This was Evan's first overnight camping trip to Deer Park in the Olympic mountain range of Washington. One mile above sea level, near the straight of Juan de Fuca he took in breathtaking views in all directions. That evening we played some chess with this set.

The board and pieces are well made. The bags make it easy to travel with. I was pleasantly surprised by the magnets. it’s strong enough to hold the pieces but not so strong that you have a hard time moving them. LOVE IT!!!
This set is consistent with the reviews. It's a very functional, portable, travel set. Big enough for practical over the board play, with dimensional pieces and visual clarity. Small enough to take anywhere and easy to set up on a limited surface. Or no surface at all! Very happy with the quality carving in the pieces. There is obvious time and care in their crafting. I'll only offer one petty complaint. A few of the pieces must have their magnet recessed a bit further than others. This causes them to have a weaker connection to the board. They still generally stay in place, but if you bump the set, these weaker pieces will slide around.
The board I received in my set had some quality control issues in the way it was stitched and assembled. I reached out to Chess House and because they stand by their products, they are sending another one to me right away. You can't ask for better customer service than that
We already had a travel chess set which is a plastic folding board that contains all the pieces inside.... Were ooking for something maybe nicer and/or more compact for travel.
This is a decent set. Nice that it comes with extra Queens. The magnets are quite weak, especially in the corners which was disappointing... And the pieces are super light
although it's decent, it's more than twice as expensive as our other set and there's not much to justify that cost differential.

I just got this in the mail a couple hours ago and I’m thoroughly impressed with the set. The board is nice and flexible and I love the thickness of the pieces and how they look on the board. It comes with 2 extra queens, and I went ahead and ordered 2 extra knights with the board (I would have ordered more queens but only one color was available at the time I purchased).
Some magnets are definitely stronger than others but when I tilt the board on its side, only 1 pawn slides off the board. Still a 5 star product in my opinion, because I believe they send replacements for weak magnets.
