About The ChessConnect for Mephisto Phoenix

ChessConnect is a widely used tool that seamlessly integrates eBoards with the original interfaces of Chess.com and Lichess.org. Specifically designed for the Mephisto Phoenix, this application transforms the chess computer into a powerful platform for directly accessing and utilizing the interfaces of Chess.com and Lichess.org.

This software is an add-on that adds new functionality to the Phoenix Chess Computer.

Current functions on Chess.com

  • Online games against any opponent
  • Play against the Chess.com bots
  • Participate in tournaments
  • Solve puzzles
  • Play with alternative starting positions
  • Chess.com analysis board

Current functions on Lichess.org

  • Matches against any opponent
  • Games against the Lichess engine
  • Use of the Chess960 variant
  • Participation in tournaments
  • Play with any starting position
  • Use of the chat function, e.g. in tournaments

Unique to the "Play Online" Option

Play Online on the Mephisto Phoenix is designed to make access to the online game as easy as possible. It only offers functions that are available via the official LiChess interface.

Chessconnect gives you additional options for using the many functions of the original interfaces of both platforms. In addition to the Chess.com connection, with Lichess these are above all the use of the Chess960 game variant and the game with any starting positions. With both platforms, you can view the game analysis directly after the game on the Phoenix screen.

Recommended Use

ChessConnect is most commonly used for viewing Chess.com's own analyses directly after a game on the Phoenix. Additionally, it is a valuable tool for all online gamers who use Chess.com. We also recommend the use of Chess.com bots and the Chess960 variant on Lichess. These platforms provide objective and insightful analysis, making them a resource for both beginners and experts in the industry.

During tournaments, the Phoenix screen will display rankings in real-time for immediate viewing.

For those who frequently use the original platforms on the web or smart devices, adapting to our software should be seamless and require little time.

Restrictions on use

Please note that we cannot use the original sounds of the platforms, but use our own sounds in Chessconnect.

Not all platform applications can be run on the chess computer board.

The Chessconnect analysis board uses the engine for the analysis locally. For smooth operation on the Phoenix, we therefore recommend changing the engine to "Stockfish Lite" in the Chess.com settings. Users who have a paid account on chess.com can also use the cloud engine available there.

To play the Chess960 variant on Lichess, castling must currently still be carried out on the Phoenix screen.

Chessconnect does not use the official interfaces of the platform providers for some functions. This increases the features available to you. However, changes to the platforms may mean that not all functions are permanently available.

Chessconnect on the Phoenix is a software that comes from an external software provider and has been adapted and optimized for use on the Mephisto Phoenix. We are unable to provide a permanent functional guarantee.

How to Install

  1. After your purchase of the software from this page, you'll receive an email with instructions.
  2. Reply with your Phoenix Serial Number as shown in the red arrows below.
  3. You can find the serial number on the nameplate of your Phoenix as well as in the system settings under SYS SETT / INFO SYSTEM. For example, it may read 00101737 / 0030.
  4. Make sure your Phoenix is version V4.01A or higher. If it's not, perform an update via SYS SETT / UPDATE and select the latest version via SELECT VERSIO. Repeat this process until your system shows at least V4.01A as the current version under SYS SETT / INFO SYSTEM.
  5. After you have received confirmation from Millennium, please update your Phoenix one more time, followed by Select Version. You may need to be patient for a few minutes until the updates are delivered to your Phoenix.
