Our thoughts: These pieces come with a felt underlay on each piece that you, like us, may find is really not adequate for the purpose felts are usually provided, to protect a chessboard surfacing from scratching. You may feel they are fine or you may want to add some felt material on your own. The pewter pieces have an amazing heavy feel and inspiring presence, so it's a pity the felts are less than impressive.

The product description is not wrong. The felts are crap and will need to be replaced on a couple pieces. The pieces are wrapped in plastic and a couple pieces had the felt completely ripped off because the felt was improperly placed on the piece, causing the felt to attach to the plastic and rip off entirely. Other than that, the set worth getting an arrow in the knee over.
I totally agree with Chess Houses "Our Thoughts" write up. I am very happy with the pieces, their dimensions, art, weight, etc. I am disappointed with the felt on the bottom. I expect to have to replace all of them ASAP. :-(
The only other piece of feedback I'd like to offer is that the workmanship and detail, while artistically fine, is a little rough. Now, I happen to be OK with a worn/rough kind of a look, but other may not be.
