The flex pad chessboard offers even more convenience than most roll-up vinyl chess boards in that it lays flat every time and can be both rolled-up and folded. The smooth playing surface interacts well with club style or any felt based pieces. Regulation size, the board is flexible for personal, club, or school use. Product Specs
I made a fanciful porcelain chess set for my granddaughter (see below). This board, excellent for many purposes, is just the thing for this one - it's not slippery, so the somewhat fragile pieces don't easily slide into each other, but not too grippy for ease of movement, and the soft surface is also protective. It's a great size for a tournament set (also a good size for kids). It washes really well. It flops back into smooth shape even after being just sloppily folded, and it lays very flat, no curling. Best of all is ease of storage. Love it.
I got the moccasin & grey flexpad boards, and they are of superior quality compared to other mousepads, and i own quite a few of them.
The grey is really great with black ebony pieces on; the contrast is pleasing to the eye. See pic of the grey board with a 3.7" boxwood/ebonized set on it.
The moccasin board, is a bit on the light side with the brownish squares. See pic with a 3.75" golden rosewood set. The White pieces are almost the same color as the dark squares! But of course, the choice of color was mine; the solution? > i'll buy another saddle brown flexpad !
