The plastic pieces are well made with very legible Chinese characters. The board is made of paper so it will not last very long. Perhaps it might be possible to supply a more durable board with just a modest increase in price. The instructions are adequate for a person new to the game. Overall I would say that this is an introductory set and for the price is a good bargain.

Nice set!

For a first set these are really nice. I like the sound they make when they bump each other. Like the clack of dominoes. The paper board is ok but too small for me. Overall good set.

Seller shipped this beautiful Chinese chess set at once. I'd been looking for the precise item and found it only at CHESSHOUSE. Ignore the four-star ratings. This is a five-star set. A paper board is standard for travel sets so it can be folded into the container. If you want a heavier board, go to Office Max, run off some copies, and have them laminated.

Nice pieces

Really nice pieces in a plastic storage case. Only weak point is the "as called" paper board. A very thin folded sheet of paper with light red printed board lines. It seems to be better to make your own with the PC and print it out. Therefore only 4 stars.
