Each game can be played through at several different difficulty levels. Position verification, position set-up and move-cancelling functions available. Quick-response sensor board for easy and comfortable use.

How does this compare to the MIL806 (Karpov Chess School)?

The Chess Master II and the Karpov Chess School computer differ primarily in the game options they offer. While the Chess Master II goes beyond chess by including checkers and a variety of additional games (detailed in the manual linked below), the Karpov Chess School computer focuses on chess-related game options (like 30 Min, 5 Min Blitz, 'rated' game and more).

I like it very much.

good learning tool

It doesn't have many options like advanced ones (like save/load, analyze etc.) but it has exercises and 'Karpov chess school' booklet. Beginner like me this booklet itself worth the money. It is rated as 1750, and I don't think I can reach the ELO in a few years.
Also, great customer service. Initially I had an issue with the LCD screen, but Paul Adams resolved the issue.

Board freezes up and needs to be reset quite often

We have had the set for about 10 days and have experienced the board freezing up about every other day. It also gets close to the end of a game and gives unexplained error messages the board and chessmen are very nice otherwise

In a majority of the cases where customers indicate that this chess computer appears to freeze up, it turns out to be a misunderstanding of the TUTOR function. The TUTOR function will point out a potential mistake or warn of a threat to help players new to chess, but it requires the player to press a button to continue the game. This function can be turned off in the menu. If you need further assistance or the issue is not related to the Tutor function, please reach out to us directly through customer support so we can assist you.

Good Chess Board

This is a really nice board. Magnets are solid, yet pieces are easy to move. The exercises are and book are really good for novices.

Shout out to ChessHouse.com. This was my first purchase with them and it went really well. They also answered a question I had quickly. All future chess related purchases will start here.

Perfect chess companion on a crowed desk or during when travelling

Now here's a non-imposing chess companion during your hybrid or remote work environment when you just need to take your mind off of work for few minutes. This chess set not only look very pleasing but it's also very high quality. I know it's reviewed as a 'perfect for kids' don't kid yourself. It's actually a very competent challenger for those those casual games. It's also small enough that it's not very imposing when carried around in your backpack when you have to travel. I love the high quality feel and it also has multiple different type of games like checkers and reversi which I also enjoy very much. Thank you Chess House and Millenium. You guys rock!
